REAL SPARK COIL IN A 1-INCH PACKAGE!In reality, it's fairer to call this device a “spark coil simulator” than a “booster”. Instead of a voltage-doubler like most of WM's competitors, the BTAC2 uses an 80 ohm coil to mimic the action of a larger spark coil, providing an identical “kick” of high-voltage to trigger vintage tachos which won't trip reliably at 12 volts. Better, because it's an actual coil and not a doubler, it will trip tachos the competition can't, like old VW's that need a spike of negative voltage. Internally, it uses a honking 2-amp 400V mosFET to drive the coil, so it won't blow up when connected to an active-low ECU output like some other designs. For driving high-voltage tachos of all stripes, this little powerhouse won't just replace the MSD 8920 and similar devices, it will outperform them in a much smaller package at a fraction of the price!
