Grappa Red Mini is a miniature red Buce — slender oval leaves in reddish-bronze on a plant that stays under three inches. Red and small rarely come together in this genus, which is what makes it worth the price. 'Grappa Red Mini' Also known as — Buce Grappa Red Mini Origin — Borneo (genus range) Placement — Foreground, attached to hardscape Mature height — 1-3 inches Growth rate — Very slow Care Difficulty — Beginner Light — Low to medium. Stronger light lifts the red, but leaves this small have no margin for algae — medium is the ceiling. CO₂ — Not required. Deepens color and speeds growth if you already run it. Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5 Substrate — None needed. Epiphyte; never bury the rhizome. Growth habit — Amphibious rhizome creeper; grows submersed or emersed Propagation — Rhizome division Grower's Notes Red at nano scale is the whole proposition. Most red Bucephalandra runs 2-4 inches. Grappa Red Mini holds the color on a plant half that size, which is what lets it work as an accent in a shrimp tank rather than dominating it. Light spectrum matters more than intensity. The red and copper read strongest under RGB or full-spectrum lighting; under warm white the same plant looks muddy brown. Never bury the rhizome. Tie or glue it to wood or rock and leave it exposed; buried rhizomes rot. Farm-raised, not wild-collected. All the Bucephalandra we carry is farm-grown, and much of it is raised from tissue culture rather than collected from Borneo. Color builds over months. It arrives greener than the photos and reddens as it converts to submersed growth — judge it at three months. Want to go deeper? Read our complete Bucephalandra Care Guide. Notes Like most Bucephalandra, minor leaf melt may occur after introduction as the plant adjusts to new water parameters. This is normal and temporary — new submersed leaves regrow from the rhizome once the plant stabilizes. Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.
