Carved by local artists in Siem Reap, Cambodia, this depiction of the Buddha protected by Naga is carved on local Cambodian soapstone; similar to the stone used to build many templ es in the Angkor complex itself. These Cambodian artisans gain inspiration from the temples of Angkor. The ancient stonemasons provided a powerful benchmark for unique design and refined artistry. In the 1990s, this organization had their first artisans trained by masters in the restoration of temple sculptures. Now they are often called upon to continue this work.
