Polyester dries more quickly than cotton, doesn't shrink when washed (it is machine washable), feels soft, and is more stain-resistant. The shirt protects you from mosquitoes, blackflies, ticks, no-see-ums, and other biting insects—without feeling heavy or restrictive. Dual zipper sliders on the face mesh make it easy to adjust ventilation and gives you better access to your face when you need it. A big zip pocket on the front doubles as the storage bag, and there is another small chest pocket for easy-reach items. There are adjustable cords at the hood and waist to help seal things up for a secure fit, and the fabric also provides excellent sun protection with an SPF rating of 90.9.
