Welcome to "We Love 2 Stitch" and another addition to the popular Build-A-Block series, the Half Square Triangle (HST) Block. The HST is a much loved and much used block for quilters of all skill levels. In fact, it is probably one of the most used blocks of all. If you are a quilter, you know that there are many, many ways to make a HST block. The challenge is to make the blocks perfectly square which is not always as easy as it sounds. Stitch a perfect HST block every time by piecing and quilting the blocks in-the-hoop. The HST Build-A-Block is super easy to stitch and gives several options for the quilting motifs and project layouts. For inspiration, “google” HST blocks or HST quilts and be prepared for an abundance of project ideas. Make quilts, bed runners, table runners, placemats, and more! There are four projects covered in the Step-by-Step Instructions, two table runners or bed runners, a placemat, and a pillow project. The wonderful thing about the Build-A-Block series is that there are so many options for layouts and for projects. THE HST BUILD-A-BLOCK: Creating a HST Build-A-Block is straight forward with only three simple steps: STEP ONE: Select a Finished Block Size, choosing from six coordinating sizes; STEP TWO: Select a Lower HST Quilting Motif from the four quilting motif options; STEP THREE: Select an Upper HST Quilting Motif from the four quilting motif options. HST Block Sizes: 3.5", 4", 4.5" 7", 8" and 9"; Border Blocks: Varies by hoop size; Minimum Hoop Size: The 5" x 7" hoop may only use the 3.5" block and 4" block sizes. To fully utilize all the designs in the Build-a-Block, an 8" x 12" hoop or larger is needed. Finished Project Sizes: The finished size for the Half Square Triangle Placemats: 16” Octagon using the 4" block; The finished size for the Calming Shades Bed runner or Table runner: Bed runner finished size: 24” x 72” using the 4” block; Table runner finished size: 21” x 63” using the 3.5” block; The finished size for the Triangle Tango Table runner using the 7" block is 25" x 74"; or 16" x 44" if using the 4" block; The finished size for the Eight Point Star Pillow using the 4.5" bock is 22" x 22".
