An incredible copperplate engraving printed in intaglio on a hand press in its original gilt frame. To create this artwork, an image was carved into a copper plate (like a stamp, b ut reversed). Ink was applied to the carved areas, and the surface was wiped clean so only the grooves held ink. The plate was then pressed onto paper using a special hand-operated press, transferring the ink from the grooves onto the paper to create the print. This technique produces fine, detailed artwork.
