The first majorly issued Body Armor in the German army post unification the Splitterschutzweste (often called SpliSchu) was a great leap in personal armor protection at the time, w it the ability to add and remove plates as well as having all around protection it was a major upgrade compared to what the Bundeswehr had before with older American Made M52/69.The Body Armor system had integrated attachment points for the then new Lochkoppel belt webbing gear but wearing it was found to be problematic, as well as poor armor performance lead to the acquisition of foreign designs untill recently.
