Desmanthus illinoensis Central Iowa source (clean), 99% by cut Abundant delicate foliage hosts dainty white flowers in mid to late summer, followed by stunningly-unique seedheads. Aside from adding landscape interest, these plants feed bees and small "game-birds". Plants thrive in full sun where there is plenty of rainfall, though are tolerant of most soils and droughts. Sometimes these are referred to as "False sensitive plants," and leaves can be touch-sensitive. We have not observed this in our plants to date, but ours are seed-propagated, and each of our plants is a genetic individual. Scarification required.
