Incentive Create a layered Easter artwork using dyes, pastels and coloured paper -Line-Shape-Space-Colour-Texture Supplies A3 coloured paper 2 x black A4 paper Coloured A4 paper Paper towel (one square per child) Cut-out of egg shape on cardboard Egg [download] Pencil White crayon Pastels or chalk Food dye diluted in water Paintbrush Scissors Craft Glue Lesson 1 Begin with paper towel square. Use paintbrush to dab different coloured dyes all over it. The three primary colours (red, blue and yellow are enough) The colours should slightly blend where they touch when dye is absorbed by paper towel. Leave this to dry. 2 Draw an outline of a rabbit on black A4 paper. Encourage children to fill up the page. See outlines of rabbits on this post. Use pastels or chalk to fill up the bunny with patterns. 3 Trace egg shape on dyed paper towel. Position cardboard egg template to the side corner of the paper towel, leaving room for some smaller eggs. Draw four or five smaller eggs on left over space of paper towel. 4 Use cardboard egg template to trace egg shape on coloured A4 paper. Leave about a 1cm frame when tracing so that this egg is slightly larger than the paper towel egg. 5 The rest is all about assembly of all the pieces to make the artwork ‘pop’. Use a contrasting colour A3 paper as your backdrop, Centre and paste down the black A4 sheet. Then paste other pieces as shown in our pictures. 6 Display around the room with labels or use as a gift with a message on the back of artwork.
