I painted the majority of this painting on Main Street in Canmore in August, 2021That morning as I was driving out from Calgary, I reached a section of highway that had retardant s prayed over it and helicopters were dumping water on flames right beside the highway. As the smoke hung low that day, the scene was on my mind and I think the heat comes through in this abstract interpretation of the Rocky Mountains.Luckily it was mostly out by the time I drove home that night, but it was definitely a bad year for fires in western Canada.
