The AL-1 is a winter flight jacket adopted by the BUAER (Bureau of Naval Aviation) from the late 1940s to the early 1950s, designed to be worn with the AW-1 hood. The outer fabric is made from high-density cotton corduroy, offering a supple feel and excellent wind resistance. The lining features an alpaca mohair wool pile for the body, with smooth rayon wool used for the sleeves, and wool flannel insulation sewn inside for added warmth.The front is designed with both a zipper and buttons for enhanced cold protection.
