[BUZZ RICKSON'S "BR14872" N-3 Utility Jacket]The U.S. Navy adopted the N-3 utility jacket in the early 1940s.Its simple design, featuring one patch pocket on the chest and two on t he waist, is almost identical in appearance to the P-41 adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps around the same time.It is identified by the "USN" or "USMC" marking on the chest pocket.The buttons are black-painted donut-shaped tack buttons used during the war, engraved with a laurel wreath.The sleeves are single-piece tubular sleeves, adjustable with two tack buttons at the cuffs.With the outbreak of World War II and the increase in troops, the production of additional equipment was urgently needed, and jackets like the N-3, which were simplified to the extreme, were extremely suitable for mass production.The material and color are a perfect match for denim, a staple of military clothing.
