This woolen Bycocket is an iconic Medieval hat worn by anyone from peasant to nobleman. This one is extremely period accurate and suitable for reenactment of the appropriate periods, or a wide variety of fantasy costumes. The felt for this hat is made entirely by hand by a process called wetfelting. It is then formed using period accurate blocks. The material is 100% high quality merino wool, it’s amazingly breathable and will protect you both from the sun and the cold. To decorate the Bycocket, you can choose from a range of metal badges, which were often stitched to the hats and different feathers to add flair. The badges and feathers will be shipped unattached, so you can decide the placement for yourself. There are two styles of attachment, if the badge has metal spikes on the inside, simply push the spikes through one layer of the felt and bend them towards the center using pliers. If it's flat on the inside, stitch the badge on using a needle and strong thread in several places, it's best to use the narrowest portions of the figure, like its waist, neck, wrists, above hooves etc.In case you aren't familiar with stitching, look up a guide for attaching buttons. We likewise recommend securing the feathers by stitching them onto the felt, that way they always stay in place and are much harder to lose. In case you want to order more decorations of the same type with the hat, like two ostrich feathers, or ten rabbit badges, add the decoration here and then increase the number in your Cart, before you proceed to Check-Out. As wool is a naturally antibacterial material, it is not necessary to wash the hat and you should never do so. Much like with modern hats, if it gets dirty, try careful spot cleaning, or take the Bycocketto a dry cleaner. The Bycocket is designed and manufactured in The Czech Republic.
