Painted Snow Lion Choksar From Tibet - 19thC Tibetan furniture is mostly constructed from cedar or pine and painted in the traditional Tibetan colours, they are often decorated wit h floral or tantric designs. Choksars are used in front of the family altar as table to read and recite from the long prayer books. Normally a monk would do this on a regular basis for the family. Original antique Tibetan cabinets and Choksars are now quite rare and there are many reproduction pieces made in China coming into the market.
