The speedometer cable (RTC3484) transmits rotational drive from the gearbox output to the speedometer head, enabling accurate vehicle speed measurement. On Series Land Rovers, a worn or kinked cable typically presents as an erratic or non-functioning speedometer needle, and in some cases an audible squeaking from behind the instrument panel. Correct cable length and end-fitting type are critical, as an incorrect cable will not seat properly at either the gearbox drive or the instrument head. Key Features Mechanical drive cable with correct end fittings to match Series gearbox drive and speedometer head Routed through the bulkhead; inspect the cable outer casing for cracks or tight bends during fitment Supplied to OEM specification for direct replacement without modification One cable required per vehicle; inspect the speedometer drive gear at the gearbox simultaneously, as a worn gear can accelerate cable wear Vehicle Fitment This cable fits Land Rover Series 1, Series 2 and Series 2A models across the electrical system category.
