The Crosswing X2 and X3 have 2 struts and the Mantis has only one. The top strut on the X2 creates a curve that increases the surface area vs the length from nose to tail Mantis's strut is straight and doesn't create the "curve." - less surface/length ratio. This geometry gives the Crosswing more low end power which gives it an advantage in water starts and light wind conditions. For beginners, it translates into doing less pumping on the start and in low-wind conditions compared to the Mantis.
