Halimeda monile is a heavily calcified macroalgae that grows up out of substrate. This species is very unpalatable to most marine fish and invertebrates. ***Halimeda will almost al ways appear white right out of shipping. This is due to the chloroplasts moving deeper into the algae’s tissue when exposed to the dark. This is normal and is not a cause for concern.
