Rare, peculiar cactus! Has "tubercles" that mimic the appearance of agave leaves, and explode into hairy filaments at the tips. Makes dramatic, large yellow blooms atop the 24" gro wth. Often grows alone in clusters of true agave and grasses. Threatened by illegal collection and grazing, it is a protected species in Mexico (NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010).
