Size: 18 x 13 cm The painting Cake #FB is part of an ongoing series that I continue to develop.The focus of this series is food — one of the oldest and most beloved subjects in the history of painting. In my case, I combine my fascination with drawing paper and tape with the traditional idea of still life. I find it amusing that the old masters often painted food to create the illusion that it could actually be eaten — even though it was just paint on canvas. In my works, the inedibility of the object is visible from the very beginning, yet formally it still remains “food" At the same time, this series continues my main conceptual approach: each painting is based on a reference to another artist’s work. In this case, the reference was a painting by Fernando Botero.
