Calathea are listed under the Moisture Loving Tropicals section in the Jungle & Loom Plant Care Card. They prefer medium indirect sun, and are typically low light tolerant. Unlike most houseplants they don't like for their soil to dry out between waterings. They are also more susceptible to the wam dry air of heating vents and radiators in the winter. These plants are best for the Plant Parent that loves to care for their plants on a regular basis. Some varieties of Calathea can be prone to spider mites. As a preventative measure wash the leaves with Castile soap once a month before watering and rinse the soap off of the leaves in the sink while watering. Show more
