Calcichew 500mg Chewable Tablets provide calcium to help correct dietary calcium deficiency or meet increased calcium requirements. They may also be used alongside conventional treatment for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. How to take:For the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency and as an adjunct in osteoporosis: Adults and elderly: Take 2–3 tablets daily. The tablets may be chewed or sucked. Children may also be prescribed 2–3 tablets daily for calcium deficiency, but use in children should be according to medical advice. Important information:Do not take Calcichew if you have high calcium levels in your blood or urine, kidney stones or certain conditions that cause excessive calcium levels. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have kidney problems, a history of kidney stones or are taking additional calcium or vitamin D supplements. Calcium can affect the absorption of several medicines, including levothyroxine, bisphosphonates, iron, zinc and some antibiotics. These medicines may need to be taken several hours apart from Calcichew. Check with your pharmacist if you take other medicines. Possible side effects include constipation, indigestion, wind, nausea, abdominal discomfort or diarrhoea. Contains isomalt and should not be taken by people with rare hereditary fructose intolerance. Calcichew can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding when required, but total daily calcium intake should be considered. Store below 30°C and keep the container tightly closed to protect from moisture.
