Mineral(s): Calcite Location: Road Cut, Trans Canada Highway, Municipality of Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador Size: 9.8 X 4.5 X 3.1 cm Description: A fantastic, single, LARGE terminated ‘dogtooth’ calcite crystal from a unique Newfoundland location. The crystal is translucent to transparent in some areas of the crystal and some faces have a light red-tan coloured hematite (?) dusting. There are growth striations on two contacts from an adjacent crystal. The crystal is undamaged and is one of several removed from a clay pocket that included a large single crystal (17.5 cm) that has been acquired by the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa. It is anticipated that there will be no further specimens from this locale. Show more
