This piece was created in honor of the centennial celebration of Calder’s Circus, in collaboration with the Calder Foundation and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Calder began h is Circus in Paris in 1926 as a portable distillation of the natural circus fashioned from wire, cork, fabric, and other materials—at once sculpture, theater, and performance. This tee features a photograph from Calder’s 1926 identity card.
