Calgary's downtown towers cut into steel, for the office wall or the empty space behind the couch. Three widths: 18, 24, or 30 inches. The 18 inch works on a narrow wall or a shelf, and the 30 inch carries a big open span. It comes powder-coated, or bare steel if you would rather finish it yourself. Every piece is cut from 12-gauge steel, which is 3mm thick. Most online sign shops use 14 or 16-gauge, roughly half the thickness. Ours gets powder-coated after cutting, and that finish is rated around 20 years in direct sun before it needs redoing. Thin cut metal decor arrives with a bow through it and never sits flush. At 3mm this hangs flat against the wall and stays that way. We have been building these in Manitoba since 2019.
