VALERIAN Valerian is an herb that has been used for centuries to reduce anxiety and calm. It is thought that the compound that is contained in Valerian, valerenic acid works on GABA receptors to reduce anxiolytic effects. In addition, valepotriates that give valerian its distinctive smell seem to have a similar effect of reducing anxiety. ROSEMARY ESSENTIAL OILSThe essential oils of Rosemary contain a wide range of compounds which seem to be responsible for its anxiolytic effects. It has also been shown to improve sleep quality and mood. Further studies have also shown that it may improve cognitive function.CHAMOMILE ROMAN ESSENTIAL OILSChamomile is a daisy-like plant most commonly used to make tea and has long been associated with calming and reducing anxiety. Low levels of GABA accompany anxiety disorders and it is thought that chamomile may have a positive effect on GABA metabolism hence providing an anxiolytic effect.SKULLCAP EXTRACTSkullcap is a herb that has been used in traditional herbal medicine for its potential calming and anxiolytic effects.
