The Calmride mouthpiece is designed to provide comfort and tongue relief for horses with sensitive tongues or other oral issues. This stainless steel bit features a curved mouthpiece with a barrel in the center. This design allows extra space for the horse's tongue, facilitates better gliding over the tongue as reins are engaged and preventing it from being pinched or pressed against the roof of the mouth. The bit has medium flexibility in the barrel joint. The cannons of the bit move independently which allows for a clearer signal between the rider and the horse. The copper rollers on the barrel encourage horse to chew, makes sliding the bit across the tongue more comfortable and promotes relaxation. The baucher or sometimes called hanging cheekpiece creates the most stability of all cheekpieces and pulls the bit up away from the bars. The hanging cheek stops the bit from being pulled through the horse’s mouth and is therefore a great alternative to full cheek or even eggbutt bits for younger horses. This cheekpiece is often used on sensitive young horses or those who prefer bits with bar relief or a negative poll pressure.
