The Cambridge is an unfinished oak FD30 fire door with an updated 1930s design, a timeless, understated classic. Supplied ready to finish, it gives 30 minutes of certified fire protection. About the Cambridge Oak Fire Door The Cambridge takes a 1930s classic and brings it up to date, with an understated, elegant face that suits period and contemporary rooms alike. Because it is supplied unfinished, you can oil or wax it to the exact tone you want. It is made by Deanta, one of the established fire-door manufacturers we range. An oak veneer over a solid fire core Like every genuine fire door, the Cambridge is not solid oak. It is built around a solid, fire-resisting core, faced with an oak veneer and finished with oak lippings. The core is what delivers the fire performance, while the oak face brings the natural grain and warmth of an oak door. Because the face is a natural veneer, no two doors look exactly alike. FD30 fire protection, third-party certified The Cambridge is rated FD30, tested and certified to resist the spread of fire for up to 30 minutes, and it is third-party certified under the BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme, the recognised independent assurance for fire doors. A fire door only performs to its rating as part of a complete, fitted set, so it should hang in a suitable fire-rated frame or lining, on the correct fire-rated hinges, with intumescent strips and smoke seals around the leaf. FD30 suits most homes; where 60 minutes is needed, see our FD60 fire doors. Finishing & Care The Cambridge is supplied unfinished and lightly sanded, so it must be treated before it goes into use. Seal every face and every edge, including the top and bottom, with a suitable hardwax oil from our Treatex or Osmo range, and treat the hinge, latch and handle cut-outs and any trimmed edges as you fit. Up to 30mm in total can be taken off the width and the height for a clean fit. An unfinished door left untreated will not wear well, so this first finish matters and should be refreshed periodically. Our internal door treatments guide explains how. Key Product Information FD30 fire rated: up to 30 minutes of fire resistance, third-party certified to the BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme.
