Matthew Dowdy is a Richmond-based artist with a material practice in atmospheric media. Each Candle Object starts as pure beeswax and two cotton wicks, dipped and shaped by hand wi thout molds - which means no two are the same. Object X is the unwrapped form, two tapers dipped and twisted into a crossed double loop, smooth finish, nothing added. Natural beeswax color varies slightly piece to piece.
