This wheel-thrown stoneware vase was made at ASK Keramik, the experimental studio run by Erik and Susanne Askholm on the island of Fyn from 1967 to 1978. A balanced form—wide, stab le base rising to a flared lip—is finished with a layering of earth and ash tones: warm brick red, deep iron brown, and a mottled white glaze with speckling that speaks to the raw, textural sensibility of the workshop. The Askholms’ work is known for its rich glaze treatments and subtle relief, often drawing from both brutalist and nature-inspired forms. This example shows their interest in sculptural tactility, but at a more intimate scale—meant for everyday use or quiet display.
