Mountain Nebbiolo is such a wonderful thing. The noble variety famous from Barolo and Barbaresco is thin skinned and delicate and loves cool climates to show its purest most elegant self. Here we are high up in Alto Piemonte in the Valli d'Ossolane, surrounded by the alps, and the variety is actually an ancient clone of Nebbiolo called Prünent. With 20% Croatina in the blend (co-planted and co-fermented), the result is sappily bright and juicy, with rich cherry and orange cola flavours and it is silky smooth, with a lovely juicy acidity and a wet chalk finish. Super charming, with loads of Trinkfluss, reminiscent of Alpine Pinot or Beaujolais with a Piemonte twist. The name Munoloss is a clever backward reading of Ossolanum, the historic name of wines from this special, untapped region.
