Avon produced many items over the years. One of the most popular patterns was the Cape Cod Ruby. This Cape Cod Ruby salt and pepper shaker set was made in 1978. Today the pattern s tatus is discontinued and was only being product from 1975 to 1995. A special red glass formula was developed exclusively for the Cape Cod Ruby Collection. The specification for the glass was to be a dark red color with no hint of yellow color in the glass. It was extremely hard to maintain this dark red color, since the glass needed to be heated to an exact temperature. The Cape Cod Ruby Collection did not start, becoming popular, until the early 1960s when Avon began producing a line of novelty containers for their perfumes and colognes line. Avon continued to add new pieces to the Cape Cod collection each year while some items were discontinued at the same time. This set is in mint condition and has never been used as a salt and pepper shakers. Looking on the inside of the caps you can still see the plastic stopper cap that would have held the liquid’s in. They also still have the perfumes or colognes small. The company expanded its line of collectibles through the 1970s and ‘80s, selling jewelry, decorative plates and steins, bells, figurines, holiday ornaments, children’s items, and more. It is in mint condition with no cracks, chips, necks, fleabites, scratch, repairs, or stains. In addition, looks like it has never been used.
