This frog was inspired by the Cape rain frog species (Breviceps gibbosus). It’s cast in hard white gypsum and carefully hand-painted. There’s quite some weight to this plump, similar to stone, so it would make a great grumpy paperweight! It measures roughly 3” (8cm) in diameter. Rain frogs can be found in the desert of South Africa and Namibia. They have a mighty squeak and love to bury themselves deep into the sand. Sadly they’re a vulnerable species in the wild, but have captured the hearts of many including myself and this is my tribute to them.
