CAPS Manitoba Sommelier Certification Program CAPS Manitoba is proud to announce that it will be offering the Association de laSommellerie Internationale (ASI) Level 2 examination, providing candidates in theprovince with the opportunity to achieve this globally recognized certification locally.The Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI) Level 2 Certification self-studyprogram is an intermediate-level qualification designed for wine professionals seeking todeepen their theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of the global wineindustry. This program emphasizes comprehensive coverage of key wine-producing regions,grape varieties, viticulture and vinification techniques, and the fundamentals of wineservice. It also introduces structured tasting methodologies aligned with internationalsommelier standards, enhancing both analytical skills and sensory evaluation.Delivered through independent study, the certification requires a high level of disciplineand self-motivation, allowing candidates to progress at their own pace while developingindustry-relevant expertise. The ASI Level 2 credential is internationally recognized andserves as a strong foundation for advanced sommelier training and professionaldevelopment within hospitality and wine-related fields. In addition to the examination, the program requires the completion of a 60-hour stagecomponent. The 60-hour stage component must be completed under the supervision ofa certified sommelier and may consist of a combination of event service andrestaurant-based experience.
