Incentive Create patterns using cardboard strips and rolls. -Line-Shape-Space-Colour-Texture Supplies Art paper or A4 paper Paint Cardboard strips approximately 10cm x 3 cm Toilet paper rolls or any cardboard roll Lesson 1 Cardboard is a very useful tool for printing. Long strips of cardboard can be bent in half and the edge dipped in paint then printed onto paper. The first picture above has been printed using this method. The cardboard strip is held in the same direction at all times and dipped into different colours that work well together. 2 Alternatively the cardboard strip can be bent into many shapes and printed for example zig-zag, letter or number shapes, curved shapes or it can be left as a straight edge. 3 The second picture has been printed with the edge of a toilet roll. The roll was slightly flattened to form the oval shape, then the edge dipped into paint and printed. Choose strong contrasting colours. 4 Each child can be given a strip of cardboard or a cardboard roll and left to decide what shape they will make to print. When all have been completed they should make for a very colourful display.
