On 7th May 1908, King Edward VII granted a Coat of Arms to the Commonwealth of Australia. The reverse design of this 2008 $1 coin is a representation of the 1908 Coat of Arms consi sting of a shield incorporating the Cross of St George with a seven pointed star on a wreath as the crest above it. A kangaroo and an emu support the shield with a scroll below containing the motto 'Advance Australia Fair'.
