This collector’s edition is pressed on clear vinyl and features a curated selection of favourite tracks from the original release, offering a fresh window into a now-classic recording. Carolina marked a breakthrough moment in Seu Jorge’s career, arriving just as his on-screen stardom was taking off. Having captivated audiences with his role as Knockout Ned in the iconic film City of God, Seu would go on to achieve international fame through his starring role in Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), where his Portuguese David Bowie covers became a defining element of the film’s celebrated soundtrack. The album was co-produced by Mario Caldato Jr., known for his work with Beastie Boys and Planet Hemp, and fuses samba, funk, jazz, and soul into a vibrant, modern sound. The title track ‘Carolina’ is a beloved anthem — brimming with positivity, driven by groove, and crowned with a joyous sing-along outro. Elsewhere, ‘Mangueira’ echoes the spirit of Tim Maia with its slick 80s Brazilian funk feel, while ‘Tu Queria’ delivers an irresistible blend of jazzy samba that never fails to ignite dance floors.
