Cartografía de los géneros is a drawing realised in 2010 at the same time as the performance 56 géneros. Combining the gender symbols in a complex compass rose, the drawing points to the complexity and multiplicity of identity and gender and the absurdity of a binary categorisation. The performance 56 géneros similarly works to dissolve the concepts responsible for coercive behavioural guidelines and proposes instead the radical presence of individuality in the alternative time of unregulated common practices. The blind embossing realised after Cartografía de los géneros, stripping the print of colour, foregrounds textural qualities and the graphic effectiveness of the drawing.
