This beautiful cashmere poncho features eco-printed* botanicals in lovely natural hues. It has a nice weight and drape, perfect for dressing up an outfit, but casual enough to be worn with jeans. This textile piece is handprinted/hand dyed with natural dyes and is one of a kind! This botanical print was creating using the following: Dye: None Plant Materials: Sumac, Scented Geranium, Eucalyptus Note: Colors may vary slightly from piece to piece and from photos shown. Each is unique! Laundering: Please care for your eco-print piece as you would a fine garment. Hand-wash in cool water with mild soap and minimal agitation. Rinse in water the same temperature as the wash. Roll in a towel and squeeze to remove excess water. Hang or lay flat to dry. Do not dry clean. One Size Fits All *Eco-Print is also known as botanical printing. Cedar Cottage Fiberworks' process uses natural fibers – cotton, wool, and silk; mordants appropriate for the fiber type; natural dyes; and iron. Pieces are typically created “2 for 1,” which results in mirror images with one brighter color and the other a darker or “saddened” color. Tannin-rich leaves are placed on one piece of fabric; it is then covered with another piece of fabric the same size that has been dipped in an iron-water solution. This fabric sandwich is then rolled on a wooden dowel rod, wrapped tightly with an ace bandage, and then steamed for2-3 hours. The leaves imprint on the fabric, discharging various colors. Unfortunately, not all leaves will work with this process, but the ones that do are magical!
