The Catalinbread Echorec pedal is designed to emulate the wildly popular, yet relatively unknown Binson Echorec, favored by Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett and David Gilmour. It essential ly revolutionized psychedelic rock with Floyd at the forefront. But the original Binson wasn't all that efficient unlike Catalinbread's homage to the (inter)stellar looper. To achieve the practically limitless functions of the original and fit it into a stomp box with only five controls is extraordinarily impressive. The Swell knob adjusts the amount of repeats, from one to, well, infinity. Tone affects the EQ of each repeat, placing it closer in the foreground to farther in the background. The Delay Time can be set between 40 - 1000ms, whereas the original capped at about 300ms. The Mix knob overlays the effect from full dry to full wet, so the sound can be optimized with ease. And finally, the 12-position Program Select, a drastically more mechanically versatile control than the limited original.
