The natural shimmering quality of the Japanese magnolia wood grain can be seen through diaphanous layers of paint in this sculptural wall work by James Murnane. Sheer gold acrylic is interspersed with swirling patches of opaque light gold, which are in turn, traced with delicate carving. The edges of the panel are resolved in gold, with the panel designed to lean against the wall atop a hand-carved 'shelf' made of red gum. Show more
