Catherine Griffiths — SOLO IN [ ] SPACE: A Documentation Published following Catherine Griffiths' 2019 survey exhibition at The Space Gallery, Shanghai, SOLO IN [ ] SPACE: A Documentation traces an evolving practice that moves between typography, language, installation, publishing, and public space. Curated and organised by Zhihua Duan, the exhibition brought together selected works spanning years of making and inquiry. The resulting publication extends the exhibition beyond the gallery, becoming both a record and a reimagining of the work itself. As Griffiths describes: “An installation on an installation on an installation—works made over time and space, reconfigured, re-contextualised and responsive. It is a marker, fragments from an evolving series of works, large and small, that span wide, shoot off on tangents, make sense on examination, where dots join and a typographic thread weaves.” Richly illustrated with photographs, drawings, and installation views, the publication offers an insight into Griffiths' distinctive approach to language, form, and spatial thinking.
