Chumbera Segunda is the meeting point between true Italian cabinetmaking mastery and a sensitivity to contemporary design. The chair, crafted from solid American walnut, was created in 1988 following the success of Chumbera Primera by Ceccotti Collezioni. In designing it, Roberto Lazzeroni drew inspiration from Gaudí’s organicism, Mollino’s expressiveness, Dalí’s Surrealism, and finally the construction expertise that made Gio Ponti’s Superleggera possible. The elegant turned-wood backrest serves as the link between the rear legs and the four side rails joined using mortise-and-tenon techniques. The result is a fluid, organic whole, characterized by a sophisticated joint design, softened by hand-finished, flowing lines.
