Ceen Privée is, by some distance, the most sophisticated and complex oil in our Chinese collection. It is also the clearest demonstration we know of what Sinensis oud is genuinely capable of when it is allowed to express its full range. From the outset, the unmistakable scent of propolis arrives, accompanied by a touch of beeswax and a bouquet of beautiful florals. This is recognisably Sinensis territory — the honeyed, almost liturgical character of the very best Chinese oud — but the layering goes far beyond what the genre normally offers. On the skin, the oil takes on a superb, almost medicinal quality. The closest verbal approximation we can offer is this: imagine crushed pine nuts dipped in the enfleurage of a complex floral blend, then layered over a base of clean propolis. It overwhelms the olfactory senses in the most exquisite, deliberate way. The composition rewards repeated examination — there are layers within layers, and the more you wear it the more the structure reveals itself. We could write another five hundred words attempting to enumerate the notes in Ceen Privée, and we still would not approach the actual experience of wearing the oil.
