We use celery seed in perfume to give tuberose brightness and uplift. It works in a similar way to cis-jasmone in fact. Celeriax is a molecule that does a similar thing at a slightly lower cost and with more power. Furthermore, behind its salted-skin façade lies a maple syrup note and a distinct umami quality. This is a base note material for sure which gives it some interesting potential uses as a booster for restricted oakmoss, and an extender for expensive naturals like opoponax essential oil. Synergies with celeriax can be found in Immortelle, fig leaf, and nutty notes where it can be effective in bridging nuts and wood. This is an aroma chemical you don't know you need, until you try it, at which point you'll be trying to find excuses to pop it into every blend!
