The woman who commissioned this backpiece had been an Irish step dancer as a girl, and fell in love with the intricate embroideries on her performance dresses. Now she proudly wears this lovely tattoo as an expression of her heritage and history. The pattern began with one drawn by the talented Welsh artist Jen Delyth, and was adapted for this use, and is sold with her permission. The second version shown is a larger full coverage of a man's back, that ties into the two fierce Celtic animal heads that wrap around onto his chest. Quite a difference of anatomy, of scale, and the choice to use color as a background or a matrix of dots between the knotwork weaves. The last photo shows the same woman 25 years later, as her body has softened and matured and the tattoo has adapted with it. She has also added tattoos on her upper arms representing fire and water..
