CEMB EZ10 Space-Saving 3D Data Entry Wheel Balancer Most balancers answer a fixed question: is the residual imbalance below a preset number? The EZ10 asks a better one. Its AutoAda ptive software calculates, for the individual wheel on the shaft, the residual value below which the driver will not perceive vibration through the steering wheel — and finishes there. That is a different definition of "balanced", and it is the reason this compact machine behaves like a considerably larger one. Why One Fixed Tolerance Cannot Judge Every Wheel A heavy truck wheel and a light alloy wheel do not need the same residual figure to feel identical in a driver's hands. Mass, diameter and width all change how a given residual imbalance is transmitted into the steering column. Judge both against one threshold and you get the two failure modes shops know well: light wheels signed off while the customer can still feel something, and heavy wheels spun over and over chasing a number that was never going to change the ride. AutoAdaptive reads the weight and dimensions the machine has just measured and derives the tolerance from them. The wheel is finished when it is genuinely finished for that wheel. Two things fall out of that in a working bay: fewer comebacks on the light end of the range, and less time burned on the heavy end. The OPB program compounds the saving by cancelling the static and dynamic components with a single correction whenever the geometry allows it. 3D Data Entry Without the Caliper Dimensional entry is handled by the 3D inner data entry arm, and Virtual Sonar completes the picture. Virtual Sonar is CEMB software that establishes rim width in the absence of a physical sonar device: once the automatic gauge has fixed the first correction plane, it computes the position of the outer plane from the measured unbalance together with the tolerance AutoAdaptive has already calculated. What this saves you is a caliper reading.
