Central Bearded Dragons are the most common reptile pet in the world, due to their manageable size, ease of care and friendly, charismatic nature. They are a large member of Australia’s vast Dragon Lizard family, attaining lengths of up to 60cm. Central Beardies are found throughout much of Australia’s semi-arid interior, from Western QLD and NSW all the a across to the red center. They are a semi-arboreal species, often found perching atop fence posts, climbing trees or sunning themselves on large rocky outcrops. Therefore, it is important to allow them adequate climbing space inside their setup. It is important that the enclosure has sufficient ventilation and a secure, lockable door. The enclosure should be furnished to mimic the animal’s natural environment by the use of a background, artificial plants, rock ornaments and timber branches for climbing and basking.
