Founded in 1879 in Arita, Saga Prefecture — the historic heartland of Japanese porcelain production — Kōransha remains one of the most respected names in fine Japanese tableware, known for the exceptional whiteness of its porcelain body and the refinement of its overglaze decoration. Osakaprints This set of five yunomi (湯呑) tea cups is decorated with a polychrome botanical motif — fanned leaves and budding flower in gold, amber, cobalt blue, celadon green, and mauve — rendered with the precise, fluid brushwork characteristic of Kōransha's decorating tradition. A fine iron-red line rings the rim and foot of each cup. The interior is plain white glaze throughout. Each cup bears the Kōransha mark on the base — the company's bamboo-sprig device above the characters 香蘭社 in gold. The set retains its original fitted presentation box, marked with the four-star quality designation and model number W405.
