A vivid, deep green with a fresh, naturally sweet aroma. The flavour is light-bodied and smooth, with a creamy mouthfeel and no bitterness. We chose this ceremonial matcha powder for its clean, fresh profile. Where some ceremonial matchas carry a strong umami or seaweedy note, ours opens with sweetness and finishes smooth. About the cultivar A single-cultivar matcha powder made from Okumidori, a late-budding variety known for its nutty, smooth flavour and vivid green colour. Most ceremonial matcha is a blend. Ours is not. Single cultivar means a consistent, recognisable cup every time. More on matcha cultivars. Why organic matters Less than 5% of tea farms in Japan are certified organic. Organic farms need to sit high on ridges and mountaintops, separated from conventional fields so rain does not carry pesticides into their soil. It is harder to grow, more expensive to produce and far less common. We chose organic because matcha is different from other teas. You drink the whole leaf, ground to a fine powder. Nothing is steeped and discarded. What goes into the soil goes into you. Every batch is JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard) certified organic. Vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free. Lab-tested for pesticides and radiation. Why we chose organic. What you get A 30g tin of ceremonial grade matcha powder, air-tight sealed to preserve colour and flavour. Around 15 servings, depending on how you like your matcha. Store in the fridge once opened. Ways to enjoy Whisk it traditionally with hot water, blend it into a latte or shake it over ice. Works well in smoothie bowls and baking too. A bamboo whisk gives you the smoothest result, or try our ceremonial tea set for the full experience. Health and matcha Because you consume the whole leaf, matcha powder delivers more catechins, L-theanine and chlorophyll than steeped green tea. Research has studied these compounds for their antioxidant activity, effects on stress and focus, and role in cardiovascular health. One 2 g serve of matcha provides roughly the antioxidant equivalent of several cups of brewed green tea.
