Cereus repandus seeds grow into the Peruvian apple cactus or hedge cactus — a large, tree-like, branching columnar cactus native to the seasonally dry tropical biome of the southern Caribbean to Venezuela and Colombia. The epithet repandus means 'spreading' or 'wavy-edged' (from Latin), referring to the irregularly spreading, wavy growth. Current taxonomy includes Cereus peruvianus as a synonym. Widely cultivated across the tropics and subtropics; naturalised on several continents. Produces erect, branching, blue-green to grey-green columns to 10 m; 9–10 ribs; brownish-yellow spines; large white fragrant nocturnal flowers 12–15 cm; red to yellow globose edible fruits (the 'Peruvian apple').
